Alpaca Fibres

Renowned for its softness, warmth and natural beauty, alpaca fibre has been valued for centuries. Today, its two varieties — Huacaya and Suri — continue to inspire the textile industry.

Alpaca Huacaya

Huacaya alpaca represents the major part of the global alpaca population. Its fleece is dense, soft and wavy, making it particularly suitable for spinning.

With a micron range from 18 to 36, alpaca fibre can be used in many applications, from fine luxury garment yarns to tapestery and interior textiles. It offers an excellent balance of softness, warmth and durability. Huacaya is widely used for knitwear, woven fabrics. It is also valued for its natural elasticity and thermal performance.

Alpaca fibre comes in a wide range of natural shades, from white and cream to brown and black, offering additional creative possibilities for textile production.

Alpaca Suri

Suri alpaca represents around 15% of the alpaca population and is known for its long, silky and lustrous fibres that grow in distinctive locks.

Rarer and more luxurious, Suri fibre is appreciated for its natural sheen, smooth handle and elegant drape, making it ideal for high-end fabrics, luxury knitwear and premium blends.

Like Huacaya, Suri fibre is available in a variety of natural colours, combining refinement, warmth and lightness for luxury textile applications.
