Thinking globally, acting locally

Responsible by Nature

Behind our fibres lies the story of multiple communities. Alpaca, vicuña and mohair play a vital role in their respective national economy, supporting thousands of families, from farmers to factory workers.

Alpha Tops actively contributes to initiatives in the Peruvian highlands, supporting both scientific research and community empowerment. As part of our commitment to animal welfare and respect of the environment Alpha Tops is certified with the following standards, offering our clients the possibility to source certified fibres.

Quality and responsibility go hand in hand. We value international quality standards and actively participate in leading industry associations.

Our History

Our journey began in Geneva in 1979, when Mr. F.O. Patthey and Mr. P.G. Alvigini brought together their two trading companies with a shared vision and strong entrepreneurial spirit. What started as an ambitious venture soon grew into a recognised name in the world of natural fibres.

Over the years, we expanded building partnerships in Europe, the United Kingdom and South Africa. Establishing our presence in China in 1991 allowed us to become a trusted partner to the Italian textile industry for Cashmere supply. A new chapter started in 2007 with the foundation of Noblefibres in Zhangjiagang, opening our service to the Chinese textile production.

Each new chapter deepened our expertise in mohair, cashmere and alpaca, and brought us closer to the people and communities behind these fibres.

We are proud to have taken part in early international initiatives supporting the responsible processing of vicuña and guanaco fibres, contributing to both conservation efforts and industry progress.

Since 1979, our story has been shaped by a genuine passion for natural fibres and long-term partnerships.
