The local processors increased their market share on today’s auction compared to the auctions held in March. The trading environment is becoming more challenging given the substantial rise in raw material prices, production costs and currency fluctuations.

Price resistance as well as a stronger local currency resulted in a decrease of 3 – 4 % (Rand terms) for the young goat market indicator. As we have seen in the past during periods of global uncertainty, super kid prices tend to be more resilient with continued keen interest from European and Asian spinning mills. Selected weaving quality lots fetched record high levels.
