The Alpha Group in China is represented by two production companies:  Alphatex Beijing Knitting Company Ltd. which is a wholly foreign owned state of the art knitting company and Alpha Ningxia Cashmere Co. Ltd. which is a Sino-foreign Joint Venture company in Ningxia province, near Inner Mongolia that processes our cashmere raw materials.  Alpha Tops S.A is the number one importer of Chinese cashmere tops to Europe, which are used in the best yarn spinners and weavers in Italy. 

Our subsidiary Alpha Ningxia Cashmere Combing Company is the number one processor of cashmere tops for export in China and is equipped with Octir carding machines and NSC combing machines.  Our cashmere tops have been recognised as the best quality tops imported to Italy from China a position underlined by our presence as the number one supplier of cashmere tops to the finest and most exclusive Italian processors.

In 1999 the Alpha Group moved into the knitwear manufacturing in China and in 2004 the Alphatex Knitting Company Ltd. moved to a purpose built factory close to Beijing International Airport.  Alphatex is equipped with the latest computerised knitting machines made by Steiger of Vionnaz, Switzerland.  These Aries 3 machines equipped with 24 yarn feeders machines are the most technically advanced on the market today and were the first in China or Hong Kong.  The 24 yarn feeder system allows us to produce complicated Intarsia design more quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.  In addition to the Steiger machines we also have 130 hand flat knitting machines in gauges 7GG, 12GG and 16GG.  These machines are used to produce more classic styles cost effectively where a computerised machine is not needed.  The capacity of the factory is 150,000 pieces per annum.  We are spinning pure cashmere and cashmere blends in yarn counts of 2/18 – 3/68nm, and in summer we focus on other compositions such as silk cotton blends and premium Giza 45 cotton from Egypt.   

Alphatex’s main markets are England, USA, Italy, and Korea where we have been particularly successful promoting our range of 16GG knitting in cashmere blends and luxury 7-12GG knits in pure cashmere.  We enjoy a wide customer base including Burberry London, Givenchy, and John Smedley among others.
